Sigma Tau Nu Honor Society

An honor society is a rank organization that recognizes excellence. Chiefly, the term refers to scholastic honor, those that recognize students who excel academically or as leaders among their peers, often within a specific academic discipline.

In May 2010, the KVCTC Nursing Faculty began the process of developing a Nursing Honor Society for our associate degree nursing graduates. This honor society is called Sigma Tau Nu.

The purpose of Sigma Tau Nu is to recognize outstanding academic achievement in the associate degree of nursing, foster a commitment to the nursing profession and recognize exemplary contributions toward the advancement of professional nursing.

At the Nurse Pinning Ceremony nursing graduates will be inducted into Sigma Tau Nu. Their induction into the honor society is a testimony of outstanding academic achievement. Our inductees have completed the BridgeValley nursing courses within four semesters without interruption and with a grade point average of 3.75 or higher, been nominated by the nursing faculty sponsor and unanimously approved by the nursing faculty.

During Pinning, the inductees will be presented with an induction certificate and green honor cord, a color symbolizing Sigma Tau Nu.
